NOTICE TO PUBLIC
This letter is to notify Town of Pocola Citizens as well as the property owners within a 300-foot radius of the section of land, zoned Commercial, located off of Hwy 112 N. Pocola, OK 74902, with the legal description, a part of the W/2 SW/4 SW/4 SW/4 of Section 27, Township 10 North, Range 27 East of the Indian Base and Meridian Leflore County that there will be a Board of Adjustment meeting on Feb. 27th at 1:30 p.m. at the Pocola Town Hall. The Board of Adjustment meeting will be concerning a variance to the provisions of the Pocola Town Code Book concerning potential Zoning changes and/or Residential/Commercial Codes and for any other variance necessary to obtain approval of the Project. The public is welcome to attend this meeting and will be allowed to voice their opinion on this matter.
THE TOWN OF POCOLA IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE POSITION OF CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER.
THE TOWN OF POCOLA IS SEEKING TO FILL THE POSITION OF TOWN CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER. THIS POSITION WILL SERVE AS THE PRIMARY INSPECTOR OF RESIDENTIAL & COMMERCIAL PROPERTIES TO ENSURE ALL PROPERTIES COMPLY WITH APPLICABLE REQUIREMENTS, REGULATIONS, ORDINANCES AND CODES. OKLAHOMA CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS ARE ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL RESPONSIBLE FOR PROTECTING PUBLIC HEALTH, SAFETY, AND WELFARE BY ENSURING COMPLIANCE WITH MUNICIPAL CODES, ZONING REGULATIONS, AND NUISANCE ORDINANCES (WEEDS, JUNK, DILAPIDATED STRUCTURES). THEY INSPECT PROPERTIES, INVESTIGATE COMPLAINTS, ISSUE CITATIONS, AND FACILITATE ABATEMENT, OFTEN REQUIRING CERTIFICATION WITHIN ONE YEAR. THE CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER IS A FULL-TIME POSITION AND THE RATE OF PAY MAY BE NEGOTIABLE BASED ON EXPERIENCE. QUALIFIED CANDIDATES MUST HAVE GENERAL KNOWLEDGE OF BUILDING/PROPERTY/HEALTH/SAFETY CODES AND STANDARDS AS WELL AS EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION SKILLS AND THE ABILITY TO WORK INDEPENDENTLY. CANDIDATES MUST ALSO POSSESS AN OKLAHOMA CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER CERTIFICATION OR BE WILLING TO OBTAIN THIS CERTIFICATE WITHIN 12 MONTHS OF FILLING THE POSITION. APPLICATIONS AND/RESUMES WILL BE ACCEPTED UNTIL 5PM ON THURSDAY FEBRUARY 19, 2026. APPLICATIONS AS WELL AS A FULL JOB DESCRIPTION WILL BE AVAILABLE M-F 8AM-12PM OR 1PM-5PM. THE TOWN OF POCOLA IS EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE OUR NEW COMMUNITY CENTER IS UPDATED AND READY TO RENT!! WE ARE HOPEFUL TO STILL BE ABLE TO REMODEL MORE AND HAVE MORE EXCITING AMENITIES IN THE NEAR FUTURE AS WELL, BUT IT IS ALREADY A BEAUTIFUL SPACE! COME CHECK IT OUT TODAY!
PSA Pocola Residents:
We just wanted to make a announcement concerning the Blessing Box located at the Central Fire Station. We love having this Blessing Box available for the community and we greatly appreciate everyone that help keep this box stocked! We believe this Blessing Box definitely serves it purpose as it gets used very frequently and we love seeing the community work together to help each other or anyone who may be in need of assistance! We would just like to ask please when dropping off donations make sure the items fit inside the Blessing Box. We have had several instances lately of people leaving larger items or overflow items outside the designated area. While we greatly appreciate everyone donating whatever they can we do ask that you please leave only the donations that will fit inside the Blessing Box. If you have larger donations such as larger quantities of clothing, furniture, cushions, etc. please offer those donations to collection center such as a shelter or some larger collection facilities like churches/schools, etc. The safety of those who visit the Blessing Box as well as our Firefighters are of our upmost importance! We take great pride in keeping our properties safe, clean, and beautiful so everyone pitching in to ensure the area around the Blessing Box stays free of debris and that all donations fit inside the provided space would be a huge help and very appreciated! The Town of Pocola and the Pocola Fire Dept. appreciate your prompt attention to this matter as well as your understanding and continued support!

EFFECTIVE JULY 18, 2024 POCOLA MUNICIPAL COURT WILL BEGIN BEING HELD AT 8:30AM THE 3RD TUESDAY OF EACH MONTH.
The Town of Pocola is extremely excited to announce we now have a pickle ball court behind the Police Department, it is located next to the Street Department building on the emergency helicopter pad. The nets will be kept at the Police Department and may be signed in and out at the Police Department. There is also a timer light on the Street Department building for convenience and play anytime day or night as well as a restroom in the Police Department. Please be respectful of the town's quiet hours and take care of the equipment. Also, please be mindful of keeping the area clean and as you found it for the next players to enjoy! Thank you to everyone involved in making this happen! We hope all citizens utilize and enjoy this new amenity in Town!
